SARASOTA, FL—Sarasota-based United States Awning is pleased to announce that Project Manager and Designer Ali Nomer has recently earned a Certified Specialty Contractor License from the state of Florida.

“Ali has been a vital member of the United States Awning team for a long time,” said Mark Schwalm, president of United States Awning. “He knows the business inside and out. We’re all very proud of him for taking this step to grow his career.”

The Florida Certified Specialty Contractor License is required for contractors working in certain specialized industries, including awnings, screens, and other free-standing shade structures. To earn the license, a contractor must take and pass two state certification examinations. Additional requirements relating to college-level construction education and work experience also apply.

Nomer first joined United States Awning in 2016. His license replaces the one held by a longtime United States Awning employee who recently left the company. Schwalm emphasizes that the company was never without at least one license-holding employee.
